Despite the public concluding that actress Misty Upham died from suicide, an autopsy done by the King County medical examiner's office revealed that she died from a blunt force injury to her head and torso.
Although the manner of death has yet to be determined, officials believe that the trauma on Upham's body was caused by a fall. They also believe that there was no foul play involved in her death, although they have yet to determine the manner by which she died.

Prior to her body being discovered, Upham's father, Charles, told reporters that the "August Osage County" actress was suffering from bipolar disorder, and was not taking her medication when she disappeared. He believed that Upham was suicidal.
However, after identifying the body, Upham's friends and family no longer believed she died by her own hands.
When news broke of her death, her "August Osange County" co-stars paid their respects via press and through social media.
Upham's close friend, actress Juliette Lewis, took to Instagram to state that she didn't believe that Upham killed herself.
Her family also took to Facebook to post on her official page that police mistreatment had more likely prompted the actress to "fear" officials and hide. They believe her attempt to run away from police caused her to accidentally fall off a steep embankment. Her family and friends believe the fall caused her untimely death. The said post has been deleted since.
Responding to allegations of police mistreatment, the Auburn police department also released an official statement to the press to deny the family's claims.
"There have been no mistreatment complaints received by the Auburn Police Department from Ms. Upham, her family, MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, King County Sheriff's Office, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe or elected officials at the City of Auburn," officials stated.
