Two Entangled Hot Bucks Set Free by Texas Game Warden

A game warden in Central Texas came to the rescue of two white-tailed deer whose antlers were entangled in a nylon rope dangling from a clothesline pole.

As Warden Michael McCall did his regular patrol in Comal County, he noticed the bucks in distress. He immediately responded to the unique situation and recorded the event while attempting to set the animals free.

McCall cut the animals loose as he balanced himself on his truck's hood. The warden was apparently wearing a body camera to record this unusual rescue.

The video showed the warden's truck driving up to the thrashing bucks. The warden used a knife to cut the rope with caution.

As the deer sprinted away, McCall noted the deer seemed pleased by their freedom even if they were in the middle of the mating season called rutting.

Among deer, males fight using their antlers during rutting. This period lasts about one to three months and male deer are more prone to road accidents and to hunters.

McCall believes every opportunity that calls for him to help animals gives him a great sense of job satisfaction. He says this is law enforcement off the pavement, helping those who have no voice of their own.

He admits he gets a few calls every week about animal related incidents across the county.
