Israel has not yet commented on the accusations, saying that they targeted two of the safe areas in the capital, namely, the Dimas area and the Damascus International Airport.
The statement adds that the airstrikes launched demonstrates the direct involvement of their Israeli enemies in supporting terrorism in their country. The report also cited that other regional and Western countries continue to support the terrorists in order to raise their morale. They specifically said that the terrorist group being supported is the Nusra Front.
The paper also said that the general command of the Syrian armed forces stated that there airstrike was an obvious attack that has caused material damage but did not further give details about the damages. The Israeli government was asked for any comment regarding the accusations but they apparently said that they do not comment on reports from foreign media.
This is not the first time that Israel has launched and airstrike against Syria as they have reportedly carried out such attacks ever since the civil war started in 2011. However, Israel never publicly confirmed the allegations.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the airstrikes on Sunday were used for military purposes. The organization monitors the conflict between the two countries by gathering information from the activists on the ground.
The director of the Observatory, Rami Abdel Raman, disclosed that the attacked areas were military sites and weapons were stored in those areas.
Aside from the allegations, SANA also said that the Syrian foreign ministry already asked the General Secretary of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon and the Security Council to impose the sanctions on Israel. The Syrian government said that the attack was a heinous crime against the sovereignty of their country.
