The PlayStation Network is down again and Lizard Squad has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Prominent hacking group Lizard Squad is back and active in the gaming scene. After shutting down Microsoft's Xbox Live service for a few hours this weekend, the fundamentalist group has claimed responsibility for the PlayStation Network outage.

It is unclear the type of attack Lizard Squad has used, although it appears to be DDOS. The network is still online, according to PlayStation Knowledge Center, but gamers are reporting waiting for hours for a server error message.
Lizard Squad recently hacked Xbox Live with the same sort of attack. It looks like the hacking group is back in full swing. Previous targets have been gaming site Twitch.TV and World of Warcraft.
The group says it supports the Islamic State and has various fundamental views, though it is unclear if these views are actually true or just as a masquerade.
Even though Lizard Squad remains active, the attacks are not as detrimental as previous groups, like LulzSec. The DDOS attack is effective at taking a network offline, but unless the group has skill at hacking they will not be able to get inside the system.
It is unclear if the U.S. or any other government are actively working to find Lizard Squad. Sony has not commented on the new attack.
This the second attack Sony has seen in the past two weeks, following the major attack on Sony Pictures, removing 10 terabytes of data. That attack has been linked to the North Korean government, who are unhappy with Sony's newest movie The Interview.
