Dozens of firefighters scrambled to contain a raging inferno that gutted an unfinished apartment complex early Monday morning in downtown Los Angeles.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or a cause of the fire.

Firefighting crews had to close portions of the 110 and 101 freeways and several streets due to the size of the fire and the bringing in the means to fight it.

The building at 909 W. Temple St. caught fire just before 1:30 in the morning.
