"We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread," the announcement began.

"Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery. Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time," the announcement continued.

With the musician's diagnosis now on a positive note, it is hoped for that he would succeed on his fight with cancer.

According to Rolling Stone, White has started playing with Green Day in the early 1990s after collaborating with Billie Joe Armstrong on some of his singing gigs.

White eventually joined the group as its second guitarist after the success of its Warning tour, rising to become the band's lead guitarist.

In 2012, with the band's release of their pop punk triptych, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre!, White officially became a member of the group. This was also the first time that he was credited alongside Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool, in any of the band's album.

Armstrong has recently hinted the release of a new album in 2015, offering fans with more rock and roll excitement!

The band is slated to be inducted at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2015.

Aside from his collaboration with Green Day, he also served as the guitarist and singer for the Californian punk band Pinhead Gunpowder. He was also one of the founders of Adeline Records.
