When the video went viral, Ugandan nanny Jolly Tumuhiirwe, 22, admitted to harming the 18-month-old baby when she refuses to eat.
Uganda was outraged as the security camera revealed the nanny pushing the baby girl to the floor, kicking her face and stomach before pinning the toddler down with her entire weight. She was then seen dragging her apparently unconscious ward out of the room.

The video has been seen and shared hundreds of thousands of times on social media. "Spine-chilling" was how the local media described the case.
In court on Monday, the nanny faced only torture charges, not attempted murder as the police had said shortly after Tumuhiirwe was arrested. Joyce Tushabe, Ugandan state prosecutor, said Tumuhiirwe indicated remorse and "was sorry for the act".
She has apologized to the child's parents and the general public after the outcry sparked heated media debates. Some questioned the nanny's state of mind while rights activists put the government to task. They said regulations should be drawn up for domestic helpers so they can be monitored.
"She asked for forgiveness from the parents of the child, the nation, and those she said were affected by her acts", said Tushabe.
After her guilty plea, Tumuhiirwe would be sentenced Wednesday.
The baby has since recovered from her injuries.
