(Photo : Reuters) Prince William and Kate Middleton made their way to the 9/11 Memorial despite harsh weather from Winter Storm Damon.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, visited the 9/11 Memorial on Tuesday, their last day in New York City, and also participated in charitable and youth-related events during their stay.
Despite the heavy rain brought by the winter storm "Damon", the royal couple was able to make it to their appointment and paid tribute to those who were killed during the terrorist attacks back in 2001 that resulted to thousands of lives lost as the twin towers were bombed. Prince William and Kate reportedly gave a floral offering, which were white roses, at the said monument.

Aside from the flowers, a handwritten note was also left alongside it and according to the British Embassy's photo.
"In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th Sep & in admiration of the courage to rebuild," the note read.
The couple also took the time to visit the museum that was inaugurated earlier this year located at the Ground Zero. This is at the entrance of the new 1 World Trade Center that has been rebuilt and reconstructed.
Prince William and Kate also went to the headquarters of a Lower Manhattan organization called "The Door". It aims to work with disadvantaged youths and during the royal couple's visit, they were presented with a performance by a group of students in the said organization.
After which, they also visited the Empire State Building and was accompanied by the New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Before formally ending their NYC visit, Prince William and Kate will be attending a fundraising dinner that will be held at the Metropolitan Museum in order to raise money for the University of St. Andrews, located in Scotland. This is the university where Prince William and Kate got to know each other when they were still students.
Last Monday, Prince William traveled to the White House to meet United Stated President Barack Obama while Kate visited a neighborhood of Harlem as she was accompanied by NYC first lady Chirlane McCray.
Another highlight of their visit was when the two had a "date night" watching the Brooklyn Nets-Cleveland Cavaliers game where they got to meet pop singer Beyonce and rapper Jay Z.
