Despite winning the UnionPay Artist of the Year Award at the recently concluded Mnet Asian Music Awards 2014 (MAMA 2014), South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO is under fire for allegedly being rude to Hong Kong star Andy Lau who presented them with the award.
A Chinese tabloid called Sina is said to have criticized EXO, particularly the Korean member Suho, for acting rudely towards Lau, who was the presenter of said award during the 2014 edition of MAMA last December 3 in Hong Kong.

The media outlet claims that the band failed to show good manners toward the older artist. Sina has then uploaded a photograph of the group with Lau and in the caption, they mentioned that Lau used both of his hands to present the award, but when Suho accepted it, he only used one hand and allegedly did not make eye contact with presenter.
Many Chinese netizens have also expressed that the member of the boy group had behaved rudely towards Lau, who is considered their senior.
One netizen wrote, "EXO made their debut only yesterday, but they were rude probably due to their popularity." Another user also stated that through this incident, one could assume a lot of things about them.
However, despite the criticisms towards the band, others have expressed their disappointment towards Sina for releasing 'unreasonable' photos. Many have commented that they saw nothing rude about the band's behavior and that photos were merely published to allegedly entrap EXO.
Many have reasoned that Lau himself did not even comment about EXO's alleged rude actuations towards him. Furthermore, the boys were said to have taken snapshots with the veteran star after the awards night.
On the one hand, EXO won a total of four awards during the MAMA 2014, including the Best Asian Style, Best Male Group and Album of the Year awards.
