Convicted serial rapist Azuar Ahamad was sentenced to 37-and-a-half years in jail and 24 strokes of the cane in Singapore on Tuesday, official statements said.

The 44-year-old former logistics executive pled guilty last year to raping three women and sexually molesting a third and also faced 30 charges of rape, sexual assault, outrage of modesty, and theft.

The rapist will be 65 years old when he is released from prison and faces the maximum punishment of 24 strokes of the cane.

Ahamad, who has been dubbed the 'worst serial rapist Singapore has ever dealt with', reportedly met his victims via an online dating app called SpeedDate.

Using a variety of aliases, the perpetrator would chat up his prey, then meet them for drinks at a local nightspot where he would spike their drinks with a sleep-inducing drug.

He would then take them to a hotel and rape, molest, and sexually assault them.

The 22 victims, who ranged between 18 - 41 years of age, would be unconscious during the act and have no recollection of the incident the next morning.

Reportedly, Ahamad would tell them they had passed out from too much to drink and send them home.

The assailant also used his mobile phones to film himself sexually assaulting some of the women.

The rapist was first arrested in February 2009 on suspicion of drugging a woman at a local café a few months earlier. He was released on bail but arrested again in July and August of that same year for molesting two different women.

Police then discovered the videos Ahamad had on his phone of him sexually assaulting several victims and were able to contact the victims as the criminal had kept their numbers.

Due to the nature of the crime, the names of the victims have not been released, however several of the women described their symptoms which provided valuable information and helped experts to pinpoint the usage of drugs in the assaults.
