Diversity In Silicon Valley According To Rev. Jackson

Known Baptist minister and civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, has been so busy this year, encouraging tech companies to hire more Black and Latinos along with women.

On Wednesday, Jackson organized a summit spearheaded by Intel and managed by the reverend's own Rainbow PUSH Coalition team. The theme of the event is basically how to give the tech world a new image because in case people don't notice, the tech industry has always been known to staff their companies with white men and young Asian men.

Intel's Chief Diversity Officer Rosalind Hudnell said that it would take time and it is not that easy. She reasons that the tech world is a huge and a complex environment whose phasing is really fast. But Jackson said from his speech that anything is possible and that people can absolutely do something about it.

Jackson faced the crowd of about 300 people with employees and staff from 25 of the largest tech companies in the world like Google, Cisco and Microsoft just to name a few. He said that he is surrounded by such talented and gifted people that day and that they are all gathered to come and partner and trade and it is not their aim to destroy, but rather continue to realize the American dream in all of these.

The minister has met so many iconic people in this industry that have changed the world like Tim Cook from Apple, Satya Nadella from Microsoft and even the CEO of Intel, Brian Krzanich.

Yesterday's summit was all about getting into the root of the problem to formulate solutions. After all, this particular industry is all about dealing with solutions.
Google's director of global diversity Yolanda Mangolini, couldn't agree more with what Jackson had to say about diversity in their business, especially for Google, who has got almost 50% of different races employed as their engineers.
