Scout Willis, the 22-year-old daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, walked around topless in Manhattan on Tuesday as a sign of protest against Instagram's nudity policy.

Willis tweeted topless photos of herself walking down the street and even stopping to buy flowers, captioning the pictures "Legal in NYC but not on @instagram,".

The protest is in response to Instagram removing one of her photos for violating Community Guidelines.

The social media site has an anti-nudity policy which bans photos of topless women on user accounts. Most famously, Rihanna was asked recently to delete a series of magazine cover photos which showed the recording artist posing topless.

Instagram's policy states: "If you wouldn't show the photo or video you are thinking about uploading to a child, or your boss, or your parents, you probably shouldn't share it on Instagram.The same rule applies to your profile photo. Accounts found sharing nudity or mature content will be disabled and your access to Instagram may be discontinued."

However, Instagram's nudity rules didn't go down well with Scout Willis who was later forced to delete her account for continuing to post what the site deemed as 'inappropriate' images.

The young Willis then went on a Twitter rampage asking Instagram why photos of breast cancer survivors were flagged or deleted while a shot of a woman nude with the exception of host pants and suspenders was allowed to remain on the site.

Ms. Willis rounded out her protest by donning a colorful skirt and strolling through New York City topless, making sure to have herself photographed so she could put the images up on Twitter of course!

Using the hashtag #FreeTheNipple, Willis' photos have received mixed reviews from fans and followers, some of which agreed with the protest and pointed to the sexism which allows for topless pictures of men but not of women.
