In an email conversation with Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal, Sony executive Clint Culpepper called Hart a "whore" for demanding for more money to promote Think Like a Man Too on his Twitter. Hart has been paid US$3 million.
"I'm not saying he's a whore, but he's a whore," Culpepper remarked to Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal. "If he doesn't do his normal routine, his film will not open as well and his brand will appear diminished and he will- in fact - be f-ing himself because we have his next 2 immediate films," he continued.
Hart seemingly reacted by posting two Instagram updates, which made everyone think that he was actually referring to the Sony exec.
His first post, as reported E! News, is believed to be a strike against the studio was a screenshot of an article that praised Hart for being "arguably the hardest-working comic in showbiz," with a note that he's earned millions last year alone.
The second post was a direct hit against the studio boss. He said:
"Knowing your self worth is extremely important people. I worked very hard to get where I am today. I look at myself as a brand and because of that I will never allow myself to be taken advantage of. I OWN MY BRAND...I MAKE SMART DECISIONS FOR MY BRAND....I PROTECT MY BRAND....which is why I'm able to brush ignorance off of my shoulder and continue to move forward. I refuse to be broken people...with that being said its now time for me to get back to building this empire that I've always dreamed of!!!!"
Just recently, Angelina Jolie and the aborted Steve Jobs biopic have been the topic of conversation between Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin.
Rudin, noted for his volcanic temper and foul mouth, aired his ill-feelings over how his favorite director, David Fincher, whom he wanted to direct the Steve Jobs film, was lured by Angelina Jolie to direct the re-make of Cleopatra.
Jolie is slated to play the title role.
Rudin lashed at Jolie in the email, calling her "a minimally talented spoiled brat" and demanded that Pascal cancel Cleopatra.
Pascal, meanwhile, attempted to calm Rudin, whose company gets financial subsidy from Sony.
"This doesn't need to get crazy," Pascal told Rudin.
The Jobs biopic was eventually dropped by Sony, only to be picked up by Universal.
Rudin then sniped her anger against Pascal, telling her she has "behaved abominably, and it will be a very, very long time before I forget what you did."
New York Times wrote that the Sony executive then told a lieutenant to "get rid of him," referring to the deal with Rudin.
Pascal denied any request for interview to clarify the issue.
Jolie, meanwhile, who has just finished her directorial stint the World War II Unbroken, has not yet issued any statement.
Rudin, meanwhile, took aim against those who circulated the email.
"This is not about salacious emails being batted around by Gawker and Defamer," Rudin said.
"It's about a criminal act, and the people behind it should be treated as nothing more nor less than criminals," he said.
