Although Barbara Walters previously announced that 2013 was her last year to feature "The Ten Most Fascinating People", she simply couldn't resist doing it again this year when execs presented her with their choices of people.

The person that ranks number one on her list this year is George Clooney's new wife, human rights barrister Amal Alamuddin-Clooney.

She was able to do the improbable - that was to captivate the self-proclaimed bachelor so much so that he went against his 1995 proclamation that he would never marry again.

Aside from capturing the actor-director's heart, Amal has proven to be a formidable force in her own write. A graduate of both Oxford and NYU, Amal became one of the most well-known human rights attorney around, with clients such as Yulia Tymoshenko, Kofi Annan and Julian Assange.

Although Amal is well known amongst political circles, she immediately became the talk of the town following her relationship and eventual marriage to Clooney.

Other figures included in "The Ten Most Fascination People of 2014" are comedian and talk show host Chelsea Handler, actor and Oscar host Neil Patrick Harris, actress and new mom Scarlett Johansson, former NFL player and hall of famer Michael Strahan, iconic talk show host Oprah Winfrey, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, American billionaire and philanthropist David Koch, Tesla owner and Paypal creator Elon Musk, and "Game of Thrones" writer Geroge R.R. Martin.

The two-hour special aired last Sunday, December 14, on ABC.

When asked about why the special was extended to two hours, Walters replied, that the show is "more than we expected. It doesn't mean extra work, it means that the interviews are longer. It lets us get more in-depth, and they've given us more time because it's been so successful ... but this probably will be the last time I'll do it."
