A poll of 250,000 film fans worldwide has named "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," or Star Wars V, the greatest movie of all time.

The international survey by Empire Magazine, the biggest selling film magazine in the United Kingdom, was conducted to update its definitive list of the "301 Greatest Movies of All Time."

The Empire Strikes Back dethroned the erstwhile greatest movie of all time, Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather." Empire Magazine last held its greatest movies of all time poll in 2008. The Godfather moved down to second place in the latest poll.

Many "Star Wars" fans agree The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the six Star Wars movies produced since the original Star Wars hit theaters in 1977 to launch the enduring Star Wars mania.  Star Wars: A New Hope, the original movie or Star Wars IV, made it to Number 6 on the Empire Magazine list.
