More popularly known as Mitsou, the singer is demanding for an undisclosed sum after filing a suit before the Manhattan Supreme Court late last week.
The lawsuit also demands that the song be pulled out from distribution.
"Mitsou never gave permission or consent, and never granted any of the Defendants permission, to use her voice for any purpose," the court document revealed, reports New York Daily News.
Aside from the couple, producer Timbaland was also named in the lawsuit.
The suit further claimed that the opening a cappella of "Drunk in Love," which could also be heard in the latter part of the track, was lifted from Mitsou's 1995 single, "Bajba, Bajba Pélem" was a part of Ando Drom's album Kaj Phirel o Del?
The album was released in the United States in 1997 with the title Gypsy Life on the Road.
The suit further points out that the vocals, which were believed to be sampled, have undergone digital alteration.
It is alleged that Mitsou's voice comprises nearly 1/3 of the chart topping hit, which tells the story of a couple's sexual relationships.
The lawsuit describe's Mitsou's voice as "incredible," "unique" and "ethereal," making her a highly in demand singer for innumerable collaborations both in Hungary and in other countries.
Meanwhile, "Drunk in Love," which was featured in the album of the same title, has enjoyed sales of over five million copies worldwide since it's release a year ago.
It has also gone to becoming the fastest-selling album on iTunes, the platform which the single debuted in a surprise release.
Beyonce and her reps have not yet issued any statement regarding the lawsuit.
