"They punched us in the mouth to start the second quarter, and that was the difference in the game," said Coach Steve Kerr of the Warriors.

Marc Gasol had 24 points and was all praises for Carter and the rest of the Grizzlies bench: "They deserve all the credit for what they did. They came in, and I thought defensively they did an amazing job playing from one side of the floor helping the other side ... Young guy Vince made some tough shots."

The Grizzlies' Zach Randolph and Mike Conley both had 17 points with Randolph pulling down 10 rebounds. Reserve Ron Leuer added 11 points.

It was a battle of big punchers as the teams kave both notched more than 19 wins out of 24 games in the season. The Grizzles' fifth straight win improved its record to 20-2 while it stopped the Warriors' franchise-record 16 straight victories leaving it with a 21-3 tally.

"We understand it was a nice run and something the franchise has never done before. It's put us in a good position to take a tough loss like we did tonight and keep moving. We'll be all right...It was fun while it lasted," said Stephen Curry.

The Warriors were trailing by as many as 14 but was just behind 88-90 with 5:09 left in the fourth quarter. But the Grizzlies responded with a 7-0 run topped by Courtney Lee's two fouls shots. Curry had a 9-25 shooting night including missed back-to-back threes in the final 10 seconds.
