Malaysia-based gaming studio Tomato Animation announced it will continue its successful "Chinese Zombie War" series, and it even has plans to adapt the franchise into an animated TV series, Tech in Asia reports.

The "Chinese Zombie War" hit game depicts the Chinese horror world of the Jiangshi, which is essentially a term for Chinese vampires or zombies. Jiangshi are dressed in clothing worn during the Qing dynasty while hopping around with stretched-out arms, and were most notable in China during the 1980s initiating several horror films.

Instead of taking down these monsters with a shot to the head as portrayed in Western culture, the only way to beat Jiangshi is by slapping a paper talisman on their foreheads.

Tomato Animation was one of very few gaming companies to implement Jiangshi into mobile video games with its first installment "Chinese Zombie War" in 2011.

"We knew we couldn't compete with big game companies, so we decided to focus on the Asian market. That's one of the reasons why we chose Chinese vampires," explains Nas Rahmat, speaking for the studio.

The game managed to achieve top-five status on China's iOS App Store, and led to the release of the second and latest installment "Chinese Zombie War Demon Rise" in January of 2014.

The latest game has already received over 750,000 downloads since the launch, so continuing the series as well as adapting it into an animated series is a no-brainer for the Malaysian studio.

According to Tech in Asia, Tamato Animation is expected to release the newest installment of the "Chinese Zombie War" franchise in addition to the new animated TV series by May 2015.
