(Photo : Reuters) The construction of the Google Fiber project in Austin, Texas is causing a lot of troubles for residents of the city.
Google has postponed its decision to looking into nine metropolitan cities for further fiber expansion, after bringing the 1Gbps Internet service to Provo, Utah and Austin, Texas.
"While we were hoping to have an update for cities before the holidays, we have a bit more work to wrap up; we'll be back in touch sometime early next year," said a Google spokesperson. "'We've been working closely with cities around the U.S. to figure out how we could bring them Google Fiber, and we're grateful for their vision, commitment, and plain, old, hard work."

Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, San Jose and San Antonio are all on the list of potential Google Fiber cities in the near future.
Google has been working with city leaders, engineers and state departments to figure out a launch plan. Most cities seem optimistic with the new fiber optic service, looking to get away from crummy DSL or slow broadband speeds.
Google Fiber has forced the broadband industry to become more competitive, especially in regions Google wants to enter. Time Warner Cable, AT&T, CableVision and other Internet service providers have launched 300Mbps or 1Gbps services in the past year.
Next year, Google may also launch a wireless service, tapping into Verizon and AT&T's network. The search giant recently announced a patent licensing deal with Verizon, showing Mountain View is getting comfy with the network provider.
It might be building partnerships in the networking industry, but Google still has a lot of rivals and enemies. The most recent enemy made public is the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), looking to create SOPA 2.0 and create campaigns against Google.
The information became publicly available through the Sony Pictures hack, exposing the MPAA's long campaign to try and knock Google down a peg. Google called the MPAA out, claiming they were enemies of the Internet.
