Chinese university graduates majoring in finance turn out to get the best-paying jobs in China while accounting graduates are most likely to find relevant jobs, a recent survey revealed.
An online job portal, which conducted the survey, said financial graduates can earn higher wages especially if they find positions in securities, futures and investments industries while accounting graduates can easily get jobs in accounting, taxation and assurance firms.

Aside from earning higher salaries, financial graduates also have the chance of substantial pay rise within years, faster than the average five years required across all other job positions, the survey revealed.
"While graduates majoring in finance can easily find relevant jobs in accounting, insurance or investment sectors, positions in securities and futures will give them the best salaries," the survey conducted by zhaopin.com said.
Pay also rises every year for finance graduates who land research and investment positions in securities and futures sectors because these areas require high specialties, the survey added. The zhaopin.com survey was based on the sites database.
While an accounting graduate has the best chance of landing an accounting job, the survey showed that those who majored in bioengineering have the least likely chance to get a job in the sector.
According to the survey, only less than 10 percent of bioengineering majors will be able to find a job in biology, medicine or pharmaceutical sectors because most of them will end up having sales jobs.
Experts said parents of incoming college students should consider the survey result as a guide when choosing the right courses for their children. This year, China will have more than seven million graduates who will be competing to get their first job.
This year, salaries for fresh graduates range from 2,500 yuan to 3,500 yuan, or roughly US $400 to US $560, per month. Wages in securities and futures industries usually start with 4,500 yuan (US $720) a month.
