(Photo : The Dr. Oz Show) A study published on the British Medical Journal reveals that more than half of Dr.Oz's advice is baseless.
Researchers reveal that medical advice offered by TV medical personality Dr. Oz is apparently not the best medical advice out there after researchers did an intensive fact checking of his recommendations on his "The Dr. Oz Show".
It seems only 46 percent of his recommendations on the show were backed by evidence. Some 15 percent were contradictory to published evidence found in medical journals.

Dr.Mehmet Oz is a cardiac surgeon who has degrees from prestigious universities. He became a medical figure for the U.S. general public ever since he made appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show and other TV programs. The Dr. Oz Show was launched in 2009 to addresses personal health and medical issues.
According to researchers and professors of family medicine and pharmacy from the University of Alberta and the University of British Columbia, when they checked the validity of the advice given during the show, some critics called it dubious because of the infomercial type endorsement of products.
Only half the products endorsed on the show were backed by medical studies. The rest have no medical basis at all, or even contradict published information in medical journals, said researchers in the British Medical Journal.
People should be always skeptical about medical advice given on medical television shows, according to Christina Korowynk from the University of Alberta and a professor of family medicine. .
This is not the first time medical advice on medical television shows raised concerns about their accuracy and legitimacy, however. Last June, Dr. Oz was called before a U.S. Senate subcommittee and was investigated for false advertising for his claims on weight loss products. The Doctor Oz Show is seen by 2.9 million viewers every day.
