Heidi Klum's Sharper Image Ads Altered To Suit Las Vegas Airport, Deemed Too Racy

After Heidi Klum's Sharper Image ads were banned and deemed too racy to be shown at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, the company decided to revise and tone-down the photos so that the advertorials could appear in the McCarran International Airport.

Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews shared that the first set of ads were rejected because they violated Clark County codes, set to protect families that go through the said airport.

Among others, the said county codes includes the exclusion of ads that show "the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering or any portion thereof below the nipple."

After Iconix Brand Group, the ad firm of Sharper Image, tweaked the first set of ads, they were allowed into the airport and will run from January 3 to 9 as originally agreed upon.

Despite agreeing to alter the ads, Iconix Chief Marketing Officer Dari Marder shared with Extra that they were extremely surprised that the ads would be pulled out in Las Vegas, of all places, especially "sin city" isn't lacking in far more provocative images.

"We believe the campaign is tasteful, beautiful and while sexy not inappropriate, in any way. The reaction to it has been fabulous to date and it is running in all forms of media without any issue," Marder added.

Crews, on the other hand, that despite the fact that ads such as Klum's were common in this day and age, they only sought to put the interests of family first before anything else - especially since a lot of children go through the said airport.

Crews stated that they are only following rules, and did not want to be liable for exposing children to the said images.

She clarified, however, that although they asked that the ads be altered, they didn't band the entire campaign from the airport.
