If majority of the members of the US military will have their way, they want someone other than President Barack Obama as their commander-in-chief.

The annual Military Times survey showed that 55 percent, or more than half, of the active-duty service members said they disapprove President Obama's job as commander-in-chief.

Only 15 percent of those surveyed said they approve of the President's job as their commander-in-chief, the lowest rate since Obama assumed office.

During his first year in office, Obama received 35 percent approval rating from the US military.

The Military Times wrote that its latest survey showed one thing that is very clear - President Obama is deeply unpopular commander-in-chief among the American troops.

Among the reasons cited for the president's plummeting popularity among US service men were the budget cuts, unpopular foreign policy, falling troop morale, the administration's gay and gender equity initiatives within the military, and the troops' frustration on their political leaders in general.

Aside from disapproving Obama as their commander-in-chief, the active duty service members also said their quality of life dropped since 2009. Around 91 percent of US soldiers said they were satisfied with their quality of life in 2009.

In the latest survey, only 56 percent said they were happy under Obama because, as the survey found out, more than half of US troops believe they are underpaid.

The survey also showed that most of the US troops were not satisfied with the outcome of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, blaming their commander-in-chief for the outcome.

About 70 percent of the respondents said they do not want the US to send a large force of combat troops to Iraq to fight the militant group ISIS.

In the general population, the most recent CNN / ORC survey showed the president had a 44 percent approval rating among US Citizens.
