If you love taking photos using your mobile device, chances are you've got Instagram. If this is the case, you should know you're carrying around an app made by a company worth an estimated US$35 billion.
This mammoth valuation made recently by an analyst at Citibank goes way beyond the current valuation of Instagram at US$19 billion. Citi analyst Mark May believes Instagram is worth this much on the basis of one key metric: 300 million Instagram users worldwide.

"While Instagram is still early in monetizing its audience and data assets and its financial contribution to Facebook is minimal today, we believe that it is quickly gaining monetization traction and would contribute more than $2 billion in high-margin revenue at current user and engagement levels if fully monetized," May explained.
May's estimate is US$14 billion higher than Citi's current valuation, said The Verge. Instagram is also believed to have the necessary components that can contribute at least $2 billion in annual revenue as long as it completely monetizes its network.
