Christmas Car Attack in France

A man has again plowed a van into a Christmas market where dozens of shoppers were in the area located in Nantes in Western France on Monday and it has resulted to injuring around ten people.

The car crash is said to be the third of the attacks as Christmas nears. The driver was said to have stabbed himself after the car crash and authorities noted there were four of the ten people who were injured and one who is in still in critical condition.

The suspect is also in the hospital due to the self-inflicted stab wounds and no further reports have been announced yet as to his motive.

France is said to be on high alert for any attacks as the Islamist militants have called the country vowing to attack French citizens. France is one of the country's that has worked with the United States-led coalition attacking the Islamic State of Iraq in the Levant (ISIL) militants via air strikes.

However, authorities said that people should remain calm as the driver did not have any religious or political claims prior to the attack so he might have just suffered from mental illness.

The incident has occurred just a day after a man plowed his car into a crowd in Dijon and shouted "Allahu Akbar", which means "God is greatest" in Arabic. The attack resulted to injuring around thirteen people and another attack happened on Saturday when a man stabbed and wounded three police officers also chanting the same phrase.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls has expressed his concern over the tragedy and said that they have never faced any kind of terrorism before. The officials investigating the cases noted that the three attacks were not linked in any way but the stabbing incident on Saturday involved an Islam convert.

The Dijon attack was also found to have a link to mental illness as officials said that the attacker has undergone 150 sessions for psychiatric care in the last 13 years.
