China In Need Of Millions Of Brides Immediately

(Photo : REUTERS/Carlos Barria) Couples take an escalator as they participate in a staged mass wedding, organised as part of a matchmaking event to inspire singles to get married, at a suburban area of Shanghai May 18, 2013.
Before a single man in Handan, China marries a local girl, he is required to have around US$64,000 as his proof that he could provide for the home and the other required gifts for his future bride. That is normally the price range that farmers earn working in this town.
But some changes are now taking a place as per Beijing News, since Chinese bachelors has recently found an option to pay Vietnamese brokers to find them a wife from outside the country worth US$18,500 with a money-back guarantee, in case the woman backs out from the deal.

This option of getting a new wife abroad came all crashing when in November 21, 2014 when about 100 Vietnamese brides along with the broker, fled without a single trace. Apparently, it was a scam that tricked millions of poor Chinese bachelors living in the rural area who had hoped to find themselves a good wife at a cheaper cost.
China's National Bureau of Statistics said the country's population has 33.8 million more men than women in a population that amounts to more than 1.3 billion people.
The large number of bachelors in China is showing some possible troubles that could occur in the country for the next 10 years. One thing is certain here --- mail-order bride scams are just the beginning of an even bigger problem that China is about to face related to the existing gender imbalance issue.
There are still no clear reports saying whether or not the Vietnamese brides were trafficked to be sold to Chinese men in Handan. It is hard to say since a lot of Vietnamese women also move to China's rural area in hope for a better life financially.
It just so happened that hundreds of women ran away along that day with the broker, so it does make it questionable if those women were indeed involved in a trafficking syndicate. It is also not exactly the first time that this news occurred in the country. The truth is, Vietnamese women disappearing for their groom is a case that is commonly reported by China's media.
