Actress Melanie Griffith has filed for divorce from Antonio Banderas to end their 18-year marriage. They have a daughter from the union.
The 56-year-old actress, one of Hollywood's A-Listers in the 1990s, cited irreconcilable differences, according to court documents. Banderas is busy filming a biopic of the life of Pope Francis, where he plays the role of the Argentine Pontiff.

Griffith has asked for child support and for sole physical and joint legal custody of the couple's only daughter, Stella, who is 17. News reports said the couple's split was amicable.
This is Griffith's fourth divorce and Banderas' second.
Banderas, 53, and Griffith were married on May 14, 1996 in London. Griffith has a tattoo of Banderas' first name encircled in a heart on her right shoulder.
"We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost 20 years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together," the couple told media.
The night before news of the divorce broke, Griffith was seen solo on the red carpet at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala honoring Jane Fonda in Hollywood but appeared to still be wearing her wedding rings.
Griffith was married to Steve Bauer and twice to actor Don Johnson, with whom she shares 24-year-old daughter, Dakota Johnson, who starred in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
