As people become increasingly more environmentally conscious and eco-friendly, equipment manufacturers are striving hard to find ways to meet the needs of such consumers.
One of the aspects that consumers today are taking into consideration is energy efficiency. They are looking for products that can help them reduce their energy consumption, save money, and still be able to do their part in helping save the environment. And with new inventions such as smart windows, they can probably achieve all of that.

According to The Malay Mail Online, a group of scientists who are with the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), have found a way to create smart windows. In fact, they have created a window technology that can either produce more light or lessen it without having to rely on a separate power source to do so.
It can store energy so that LED items as well as other electronic devices that are low-powered, can be lit up. In addition, sunlight glare can also be decreased, which means that expenditures brought about by lighting and cooling energy consumption can be decreased. In other words, consumers can save money through these windows.
The smart windows, which, as EE Times Europe has cited, are self-tinting and do not need electricity to work. They also come with rechargeable batteries. The main highlights of the smart windows include offering users the option to turn the tint into cool blue during bright days, which in turn, cuts about 50 percent off from light penetration, and turning it back into clear glass during the day.
Smart window owners also have the option to put them on clear setting whenever they wish to.
The team responsible for these innovative windows is led by Professor Sun Xiaowei of the NTU School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
