It's been a great year for Hollywood - but it's apparently better for Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt and Scarlett Johansson.

The three have been named as this year's top grossing actors in Hollywood, with Jennifer Lawrence leading the list.

The Hunger Games star raked in a total of US$1.4 billion in global box office with her slew of franchise blockbusters including the first half of the final installment of the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay and the sequel to X-Men.

Definitely a surprise addition to the list is the Parks and Recreation TV star who stars in the massive big screen Marvel hit, Guardians of the Galaxy. Chris Pratt managed to bring in US$1.2 billion globally from his superhero stint and voice work for The Lego Movie.

New mother and recent bride Scarlett Johansson gets US$1.18 billion in global box office playing opposite Chris Evans in Captain America and the leads in Lucy as well as Under the Skin.

Trailing the top three on the list are Mark Wahlberg who was last seen in the latest addition to the Transformers franchise, Chris Evans who garnered US$801 million from Captain America, which he stars opposite ScarJo who's in the top three and the independent sci-fi action flick Snowpiercer. 

Emma Stone follows who starred in Spider-man with real-life love Andrew Garfield as well as a Woody Allen film, Angelina Jolie who returns to the big screen after a brief hiatus with Maleficent, James McAvoy who plays Professor X in X-Men with list-topper JLaw and Michael Fassbender, who rounds up the list in tenth place and stars in the same blockbuster flick as McAvoy playing Magneto.
