The "shutdown" of popular BitTorrent site The Pirate Bay (TPB) apparently hasn't affected the intensity of online file sharing.
Swedish police raided TPB offices in Stockholm last Dec. 9 and shut down its operations.
According to Arstechnica, the rate of online file sharing hasn't been affected that much by the raid. This is because there's still quite a lot the authorities need to do to really shut down TPB if they really want to get rid of this prospering community.

The launching of a new open-sourced website very similar to TPB called "The Open Bay " has taken some of the slack left by TPB. Open Bay was launched by isoHunt.
This means most everyone, as long as they can access a Web server, will be able to upload and share files. All they need do is to pay the website a visit, install the program and run it.
The recent launch of "The Open Bay" came just in time. It came after people from TPB said they'd really "love to be cloned," and that "It would be amazing if, like in the classic movie Spartacus, everyone could stand up and say 'I am The Pirate Bay.'"
