NASA recently released an app that allows users to learn more about the International Space Station. It will also provide in depth information about the space station's ongoing experiments, facilities and research results via video, images and interactive media.
Called the Space Station Research Explorer, this app includes an Experiments section that contains six categories along with subcategories. In the category system, experiments are presented as dots that depict a timeline connecting to other dots that show how much time was spent for an experiment in orbit.

Users can explore the app and see specific experiments located in categories and subcategories. There's also s search option to find a specific experiment.
The experiments contain descriptions with links and images and published works. The Expriments section is also classified by a specific expedition and sponsor.
In the Facilities section, the app provides a look of the interior of the station modules, namely Columbus, Kibo and Destiny. Scrolling down to the Benefits section, information about Human Health, Earth Benefits and Global education will allow the user to further investigate these categories.
In the Media section, three tabs include Podcasts, Games and Videos. The Games section allows the user to play a game that can provide an introduction about microgravity during a ball tossing activity.
The podcasts link to NASA Science Casts and the Videos also provide links to related videos, as well. In the last section, links are also available leading to other space station research sites and other NASA applications.
The ISS travels at an average speed of 27,724 kilometers every hour and is located at some 330 to 435 kilometers in orbital altitude.
The ISS is essentially a microgravity and space research lab where the crew conducts experiments that deal with biology and human biology, physics, meteorology and astronomy.
The app is available for download for iOS and Android devices at iTunes and Google Play.
