Chinese actor Huang Haibo has been known to fans to have a clean image. He was even labeled as “China’s son-in-law”. However, his reputation was stained after being caught by authorities in a hotel in Beijing last month together with a prostitute.
His act has shocked his Chinese audience who always saw Huang as a straightforward player. After Huang Haibo was caught on Friday, May 16, comments regarding his arrest had reached to more than 350,000 by Monday.

Meanwhile, in his official account on Weibo, the 39 year old celebrity posted an apology to his fans for engaging in a high profile fling with a prostitute. The apology was posted on his account on Sunday with Huang admitting his misconduct.
The Chinese actor has also gained sympathy after some online users said that the mistake committed by a single was understandable. One Weibo user said that Huang’s act was okay even as he was a celebrity because he has no girlfriend or wife. Furthermore, the Weibo user said that the act of the Chinese celebrity was normal to what a single man would do.
Other Weibo users said that if the matter had not been looked at a legal perspective, Huang’s act is no big deal. However, prostitution in China is illegal.
Despite Huang’s fans and supporters showed their sympathy to the Chinese actor, it was deemed that the damage caused by the scandal has been irreparable. China
Daily reported on May 21 that the actor’s pristine image has been stained with the issue and that many people now see him less. The Chinese paper also added that some of his fans were disappointed following the image he built. Furthermore, the report said that it would be next to impossible for Huang’s career to be left unharmed as it would be difficult for viewers to accept his lovable and humble roles.
