Rik Mayall Dies At 56

British comedian actor Rik Mayall died at the age of 56 in London on Monday.
The news was confirmed by Rik Mayall’s agent who told CNN. The cause of the British actor’s death was still unidentified.
Rik Mayall was first known in the alternative comedy scene in Britain during the 80s. He starred in hit TV shows including “Bottom”, “The Young Ones”, “Blackadder” and “The New Statement”. Rik Mayall’s fame widely spread in the popular series “The Young Ones” which aired on BBC for two years and was later shown in the US through MTV.

Mayall co-wrote “The Young Ones” which focused on the lives of four students at “Scumbag College”. Rik played the role of a politics obsessed poet with Ade Edmondson, his long time comedy partner.
Edmondson led the tributes of Rik Mayall on Monday saying that there had been times when he and the late actor wrote scripts that made them laugh so hard they could die together. He told the British Press Association that he felt privileged writing with Rik and that the days they spend together were the most carefree he has ever felt.
Writer and comedian Ben Elton also gave statements to the Press Association saying that Rik Mayall changed his life when he asked him to co-write “The Young Ones”. Elton added that Mayall has always made him cry while laughing. He ended his statement saying, now Mayall’s death made him really cry hard.
Sympathies from his supporters and fans overflowed in London and all throughout the world and online. Writer Hugo Rifkind tweeted on his official Twitter account suggesting fans to pay tribute to Rik Mayall, “Bottom” style. He tweeted: "Go home tonight, find someone you love, and hit them with a frying pan."
Rik Mayall also played a lead role in the 90s comedy movie “Drop Dead Fred” with Phoebe Cates.
