Nintendo didn't exactly hold a press conference at this year's E3, but the gaming company did come out with some exciting revelations about where games will be headed in the near future during its E3 digital event.
Nintendo announced that it had experienced a drop in sales in the last year, making the company look to finding innovative ways to keep the firm afloat. The gaming firm made five key announcments on Tuesday which should allow them to do just that:

1. The gaming company plans on making full use of the built-in Near-Field Communication feature which will link Nintendo games to figurines and allow for a more hands-on, entertaining approach to popular games such as Super Smash Bros.
2. A fun addition to Super Smash Bros. is also the feature which will allow gamers to play as themselves. In the future, players have the option of choosing between an already set rosters of players or customizing their own to have unique features and special moves.
3. Yoshi is getting his very own game in 2015 with the release of a yarn-based adventure series for the popular Mario character. Developers talked about how the game would differ from other similar ones released in the past. They even knit actual Yoshi dolls in an attempt to make the character as realistic looking as possible within the game!
4. Toad is another Mario character which is about to get a lot more action soon and will be the star of a game titled Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Few people saw this announcement coming and Nintendo didn't seem to have a lot of details on the game as of yet, but the basic premise is that players can manipulate Toad in order to help him find treasure and pass obstacle courses.
5. Legend of Zelda has long been one of Nintendo's most well-known, top games and the firm seems ready to capitalize on that by taking the adventure game to a whole new level. The original game allowed players to explore wide areas, but future versions hope to make a break through by allowing participants to enter any area of the game from any direction. Although a title hasn't been given to the game yet, a tentative release date has been set for next year.
Innovative features such as these will surely bring in a huge customer base to add to those who have long been loyal to Nintendo. Without a doubt, the gaming firm is working hard to stay relevant in the gaming world and, most importantly, stay in the game.
