26-year-old Jason Mitchell has been convicted by a Florida jury in connection with the murder of Washington Redskins football star Sean Taylor in 2007 during an armed burglary in Taylor's home in Miami.

Eric Rivera was the first man to be convicted November of last year. Suspected of being the shooter, he was charged with second-degree murder and armed burglary. Even though Rivera was 17 during the time of the murder, he can still face life in prison. But last January 23, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy imposed a sentence of 57 ½ years in prison.

Venjah Hunte, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2010 and has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors while two other men has yet to be tried namely Charles Wardlow and Timmy Brown. He was sentence to 29 years in prison.

Taylor played college football for the University of Miami and entered the National Football League (NFL) draft in 2004 where he was selected fifth overall by the Washington Redskins who started off as free safety.

Taylor signed a seven-year contract with the Redskins amounting to $18 million.

Taylor's career came to a halt in November 27 of 2007 when he was shot by intruders in his Miami home by five reported burglars. He died at the age of 24 and an outpour of support and sympathy came from both his fans from the Washington D.C. area as well as in Miami where he played college football for the Miami Hurricanes.

Taylor was honored by his teammates in December 2, 2007, by wearing his jersey number 21 as patches on their uniforms. The Redskins' defensive team all lined-up on the field without a free safety during the first play of their match against the Buffalo Bills, signaled to the sky, holding up the numbers two and one.
