The San Antonio Spurs routed the Miami Heat with a final score of 107-86 in the NBA Finals Game 4 and now has a 3-1 lead in the series.

Both teams are set to play for Game 5 in San Antonio on Sunday at 8:00 pm (ET), and the Spurs are now on the verge of winning their fifth championship since 2007. During the last season, they were 26 seconds away from the title but managed to lose their five-point lead in the last quarter of Game 6, USA Today reported.

Although the Spurs did not duplicate their 19 out of 21 first shots in Game 3 of this season, they still made 11 out of the first 18 shots. With their coordinated offense, they were able to take an early lead that went up to 31-17 with just over 10:24 left in the game's second quarter.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich expressed his joy in the good performance of his team while still in Miami. He said they would have to play with the same or better level of performance for their next game back home.

In the first half of Game 4, the score was 55-33 with 1:07 left in the clock, and the Heat fell behind by 20 points in the next quarter. After three quarters, the score was 81-57, with LeBron James being the only player from the Heat able to score more than eight points on their way to the last quarter.

The Heat had trouble defending their side of the court with the fast movement of the Spurs. Kawhi Leonard had 20 points and 14 rebounds, Tony Parker clocked in 19 points, Boris Diaw had eight points, with nine rebounds and nine assists, and Patty Mills put in 14 points.

The Spurs achieved victory in their last two games without Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili putting in a lot of score. As Heat coach Erick Spoelstra said, the Texans just "played great" and they were not expecting this level of performance.

James, on the other hand, said they had "awful starts" and acknowledged that the Spurs were much better than them in Games 3 and 4. He said they were a bit down in the dumps but they still had to play on Sunday.

This is the first time that Miami has fallen by two games since their 2011 Finals loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The main issue for the last two games is the Heat's inability to put a cap on the Spurs' offense or penetrate their defense.

Moreover, there is one major difference between the two teams since last year. The San Antonio Spurs had improved but the Miami Heat had failed to do so.
