China’s capital Beijing ranked first in the list with workers average annual income at RMB170000 while Shanghai took the second place with its residents’ average annual income at RMB150000.
However, Kunming residents seemed to disagree with the method used in calculating the 10 best cities where to make money in the country by the Beijing based magazine. Chan, an auditing accounting from Kunming told Xinhua that the list was not exact or representative. Kunming was ranked 10th on the list.
Chan told Xinhua that salaries vary according to a worker’s position in a company. He said that by joining the salaries of all positions together, the outcome would not be referential as the date would be rough. Small companies in Kunming pay workers about RMB4000 monthly, according to the report. The calculated amount was still far from yearly salaries valued hundreds of thousands of RMB even if bonuses were added.
The top three industries with the highest rate of employment in China in 2013 included the construction, mining and financial sector. Records showed that a total of 5.8 million workers in the three industries comprised 35.76 percent of the total workers in the listed firms.
