Fresh from her success in Lucy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is Scarlett Johansson becoming an action star already? An article by Entertainment Weekly can confirm that Johansson has been signed to top bill in the action film, Ghost in the Shell, the Dreamworks production based on the Japanese anime of the same name.

Ghost in the Shell was created by Masamune Shirow and was serialized in 1989. The story centers on the adventures of Motoko Kusanagi, who is part of the secret counter cyber-terrorist organization combating technology-related crime set in the middle of the 21st century Japan.
An animated film of the same name was already created in 1995, which was followed by a sequel in 2004.
Rupert Sanders, who previously directed Snow White and the Huntsman, will take charge of the film, while Bill Wheeler will write the script.
Avi Arad and Steven Paul is slated to produce the film, while Mark Sourian will serve as its executive producer.
Deadline earlier reported that Johansson was offered $10 million to top bill the movie.
Johansson could now be considered on the league of Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence as one of the very few actresses who could pull in a significant blockbuster out of a movie.
Lucy grossed $394 million in worldwide box office. She is set to appear on the next Avengers franchise, Avengers: Age of Ultron in May.
