The retail industry has seen so many improvements and developments in the past years. Much of these can be attributed to the introduction of technology. While technology did make the world of retail much more interesting and convenient, owners of brick and mortar stores suffered. Some of the challenges that they had to and are currently facing include, how they can keep up with the cheaper products, the free shipping services, and the return policies implemented by online merchants.

While it is true that no amount of technology can actually replace the experience of shopping in person and seeing lines of lines of products right in front of you, more and more consumers are now choosing to shop online because of the convenience it provides and the ease of doing so.
Fortunately, there are several technologies that are being tested that will make it easier for consumers to shop and enhance their buying experience while ensuring that they still remain loyal to the physical, brick and mortar establishments.
According to Calgary Herald, one of these is the iBeacon technology from the tech giant Apple. While this program has been deployed for some time now, it is still undergoing changes and developments. The good news is that potential clients from the retail industry now have access to it.
Owners of brick and mortar stores, especially small ones, should also be aware of a prediction that Target will soon make its way back to the industry. For those who have not been able to keep abreast of what has happened in the retail industry, the company suffered major losses when its data has been breached, as cited by Forbes.
It seems though that the company's new CEO, Brian Cornell, has been quite busy planning and strategizing how it can redeem itself in the eyes of consumers and investors. Experts believe that the popular retail corporation will once again play a huge role in this industry this year.
