Woman Plunging Toilet Encounters 5 1/2-Foot Snake

A five-and-a-half foot boa constrictor slithered out of a toilet of Vertical PR, a firm located at the second floor of a downtown building at the 5th and G streets of San Diego, California, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Stephanie Lacsa and Holly Wells, the co-founders of the said company, they found the snake slithering out of the toilet. Lacsa reportedly thought that the water in the toilet was unusually high so she grabbed a plunger.

However, as Lacsa started to plunge, the eyes and the head of the snake popped out and took her by surprise.

"As soon I saw the flicker of its tongue, I definitely knew that it was, in fact, a large snake heading straight toward me," Lacsa narrates.

She ran out of the bathroom upon realizing what was in there and she taped the door shut before calling the county's Department of Animal Services for assistance. A county officer then arrived and they discovered that the snake was already out of the toilet and coiled behind the base.

The snake is now in the custody of the Animal Services and according to the Deputy Director, Dan DeSousa, they have found a few mites on the snake and that it was underweight. However, they later revealed that it was still in good condition despite the earlier findings.

DeSousa said that the snake actually bit one of the staff and noted that Colombian rainbow boas are known to be nippy and testy. Also, the snake was shedding its skin.

If the snake will not be claimed by anyone, it will be turned over to a rescue group by Friday this week. But according to the owner of the said building, Jason Zana, one of his occupants actually owned a boa constrictor.

Zana wrote an email confirming that the snake was indeed owned by one of his tenants and assured everyone that the building's sewers are not infested with the slithery creatures.
