Ben Affleck may have been called names by his many Hollywood detractors, but one title that makes the actor really feel proud of what he has done all these years is to be called a humanitarian.
The actor was emotional as he received the award as Favorite Humanitarian during the 2015 People's Choice Award.

"To be honest, it's something I have a hard time accepting," he said in a rather tear-jerking note.
"The same qualities that make my friend Ben Affleck a phenomenal actor, director and writer are also what make him an extraordinary humanitarian," Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams told the crowd.
One reason why he was named this year's Favorite Humanitarian was the fact that he placed "his heart and soul into everything he does."
Affleck is particularly concerned in the enduring emergency in the Eastern Congo which already claimed the lives of some five million people, violence and disease-related alike.
Adams went on to saying that once he learned about the plight of Eastern Congonese "he didn't just write a check," rather, "he dove in head first," and totally placed his heart and soul into helping the poorest of the poor there.
With his efforts, Affleck has already sent thousands of children to school, helped businesses gain their foot, and helped the helpless victims gain voice for the entire world to hear.
Explaining why he gave philanthropy a try, the Batman actor who won the Oscar for best original screenplay, said that he wanted to "leave behind a record of someone who did more than just gobble up stuff for himself."
"I realize a life lived just for yourself is not much of a life," Affleck said.
