Dyson's Cinetic Vacuum Cleaner Doesn't Need Filters

Vacuum cleaner maker Dyson claims its new Cinetic Big Ball vacuum cleaner is the biggest revolution in the history of the vacuum cleaner.

Rob Green, senior designer engineer of the Cinetic, there's nothing inside the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball that ever needs maintenance or replacement. So, you don't have to worry about spending anything if ever something breaks.

"There's basically no maintenance or service aspect. All you have to do is empty the bin," he said.

Before the evolution, the vacuums designed by Dyson included a filter that singles out super-fine particles such as dust or pollen. These particles, however, can do damage to the suction of the vacuum. The filter also needs some washing or replacing, forcing the user to do a lot of maintenance.

Green notes the Cinetic doesn't need a filter since it uses flexible tips that vibrate 350 times per second to single out tiny particles. The tips spin the dust out of the airflow of the vacuum and straight into the bin.

Dyson said it spent around US$12 million to develop this revolutionary technology. Cinetic doesn't come cheap. It costs some US$600.

The Cinetic Big Ball vacuum goes out on sale on January 15 at QVC and will hit major stores by March. The average lifespan of a vacuum cleaner is around seven to 10 years.
