Two weeks after the launch of Apple's iOS 8, Google is reportedly also planning to launch a health app called Google Fit.
Google Fit will be a one-of-a-kind app which would collect and analyze data taken from assorted digital health devices such as Jawbone, Fitbit, along with other health-based apps, sources say.

Google Fit is expected to give neck to neck competition to its rival HealthKit app by Apple. The basic concept of Google Fit is also inspired by Apple's Passbook app, which is like a virtual pocket for keeping shopping coupons, flight tickets, among others. Google Fit will extract data from third-party fitness devices and apps to keep track of the fitness of the individual.
With Samsung's own health app called Sami launched barely a month back, it is easy to tell that tech giants see a bright future in health based digital technology and apps.
Google Fit is set to be announced during the Google I/O developer conference from June 25 to 26.
This would not be the first foray of Google into the sphere of health and Fitness. Back in 2008, Google had launched Google Health, a similar app based on health data aggregation and fitness monitoring. However, due to trust issues among Google's customers, the tech giant shut down the service in 2011.
