Kickstarter, the world's largest crowd-funding platform, which gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain funds and turn creative project ideas into reality, released its 2014 data results showing record numbers for the company.

In 2014, Kickstarter managed to help a total of 22,252 projects to see successful campaigns and reach their funding goals. That marks the highest amount of projects successfully funded since Kickstarter was founded in 2009.

Among all the industries with projects that were funded, nine had over 1,000 successful projects. But music, film, publishing, and gaming led the list.

Music saw just over 4,000 successful campaigns, with film following close behind with over 3,800. Publishing and gaming industries were neck and neck with 2,064 successfully funded projects for the former and 1,980 projects for the latter, respectively.

Furthermore, 3.3 million people from all over the world pledged a total of a record-high $529 million to Kickstarter projects in 2014. That translates to more than $1,000 being contributed every minute. Technology-related projects received the most funding with $125 million raised.

The U.S. dominated the market for funding projects with over 2 million backers pledging a total of $335.5 million.

A project that aims to bring back child-favorite television series Reading Rainbow was the most popular in 2014, receiving more than 105,000 backers. Another popular project within the film industry aimed to adapt the Blue Mountain State TV series into a movie.

The most funded Kickstarter project within the gaming industry was a realistic RPG game set in the medieval times called Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The game attracted over 35,000 backers and managed to raise over $1 million.

Kickstarter has only been around for less than six years, but has already received well over $1 billion in pledges. With popularity of its services growing, the crowd-funding platform will likely continue to see growth each year as well.
