The San Antonio Spurs won their 5th NBA title since 1999 by pummeling a hapless Miami Heat, 104-87, in Game 5 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Spurs were completely dominant in the last three games of the finals, beating the Heat by 19, 21 and 17 points. In swamping the Heat 4-1 in the finals, the Spurs set the highest field goal percentage for an NBA finals at 52.8%. They also set an NBA record for the largest point differential in a finals in the process.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich later congratulated his team in the locker room for coming back from a "horrific loss last year" and described himself as a "horse's ass" that's chewed out their ass for the last year. The Spurs responded by dousing Popovich with champagne.
Spurs' small forward Kawhi Leonard was named the finals' Most Valuable Player, becoming the youngest NBA player to receive the honor since teammate Tim Duncan achieved the feat in 1997. Leonard, who turns 23 this June 29, scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Game 5.
He received the Bill Russell trophy as finals' MVP from Bill Russell himself. Spurs owner Peter Holt received the championship trophy from NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
The Spurs are the most international team in NBA history and that diversity was on full display on the finals podium. Tiago Splitter draped the flag of his native Brazil on his shoulders; Patty Mills wore the flag of Australia while Manu Ginobili displayed the flag of Argentina.
The loss to the Spurs robbed the Heat of their "three-peat" and leaves open the future of superstar LeBron James, who is rumored to be looking at testing free agency.
James finished with 31 points, hitting 10 of 21 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. The Heat's other starters combined to score only 32 points. Wade scored 11 points and Bosh, 13.
The future of the Heat's Big Three remains debatable. Only reserve guard Norris Cole is a shoo-in for the next season.
