LinkedIn recently released its employee demographic data last week showing that its workforce are comprised mostly of white male employees.
The demographic data shows LinkedIn has more than 5,400 employees and 61 percent of which are male. The company's major tech positions are also filled by men or 82 percent of the overall composition.

In terms of ethnic diversion, the report shows that 53 percent of company's employees hail from the U.S., while 38 percent of its employees from Asia. The remaining 10 percent or less either African-Americans or Hispanics.
Last May, Google Inc. released a similar study, which revealed the same employment pattern -- majority of its workers are white and male. Google's demographic data show that 70 percent of its employees are men, while 61 percent of its total workforce count are white.
Google's major technical job positions holds similar percentage as LinkedIn, which is at 83 percent.
In both reports, women are underrepresented especially among tech-related positions and opportunities.
Both companies are taking the results of their data seriously that is why they have decided to take to public their results in the first place.
For its part, LinkedIn has tied-up with Year Up, a nonprofit organization that extends support to youth and provides job skills training. It has been active since 2011. Another organization LinkedIn has partnered with is the Anita Borg Institute, another nonprofit organization.
The results of LinkedIn's demographic data was announced by its CEO Jeff Weiner at Thomas Friedman's Next New World Conference in San Francisco.
"We're not where we'd like to be. We want and can do better than what we're doing." Weiner said.
