‘I Want to be President’: Mitt Romney

(Photo : REUTERS) Mitt Romney has backed out from his presidential bid for the 2016 elections.
For months, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney kept denying he was casting moist eyes on the White House after he lost to incumbent President Barack Obama in 2012.
On Friday, Romney made an about face and told supporters in New York that he is considering a third attempt for the presidency. He met about 30 of the biggest donors in his past campaign and Woody Johnson at the New York Jets owner's office in Manhattan, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The meeting's organizer, Spencer Zwick, who has been the ex-governor's longtime fundraiser, was present in the gathering. Romney talked about the results of the 2014 mid-term election and thanked the donors for their contribution.
His move would be a game changer for the Republican Party since other contenders for the primary, such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, have initiated steps to get the nomination of the GOP.
Bush had already organized a political action committee and a fund campaign. He also resigned all his major membership in companies and nonprofit boards.
Also interested in another presidential attempt is former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee who last week said goodbye to his hosting job at Fox News. Like Romney, Huckabee ran and lost in the GOP primary of 2008.
If Bush and Romney would contest the primary, it would be a challenge for donors whom to support since they usually attract the same donors that support pro-business candidates.
Until Friday, Romney and even his wife Ann were denying that he would run again for the presidency.
Even if Romney is wealthy, he still needs to raise million more to successfully wage a presidential bid. In 2012, he raised more than US$446 million. The top five contributors all came from Wall Street.
GOP Colorado Chairman Ryan Call said that many party members would look at Romney as a potential candidate if it becomes clear that the other candidates would not inspire confidence.
