High tech implants are now making their debut as a remedy for arthritis.
Patients underwent surgery that implanted very small devices looking like pacemakers inside their necks. These patients suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis.
Electrical impulses were generated and released by the implants to a nerve responsible for relaying signals from the brain to the vital organs.
Scientists and medical experts involved in the study said more than 50 percent of the patients who have had the implants now have "dramatically improved" conditions.
Doctors that conducted the procedure also say the same implants can be used to treat a variety of other chronic health problems such as diabetes, asthma, and obesity.
The technology may be powerful enough to treat or cure sufferers so they no longer have to take medications and drugs.
