Around 40 Californians became sick after they ate Cholula Bakery's Rosca de Reyes, a Three Kings Day bread baked in Santa Ana. Besides getting sick, some suffered hallucinations.
It turns out that reason why those who ate the holiday bread became sick was the bakery was infested with cockroach and the baker used synthetic drug, according to Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, reports the New York Daily News.

Police temporarily closed the bakery on Tuesday, which supplied the bread baked especially for Three Kings Day to 12 markets, while it is holding a criminal investigation due to la findings that synthetic drug was used.
Besides Cholula's, the other stores in California where they sold the bread are El Nopal Mercado in San Juan Capistrano, La Bodega Ranch in Orange and Fullerton, Santa Ana Marquet in Santa Ana, Tony's Liquor in San Juan Capistrano, Gonzalez Marquet in Placentia, Taqueria Mocorito Restaurant in Anaheim, Taco Boy in Anaheim, Brianna's Ice Cream in Anaheim and La Bodega Ranch Market in Long Beach.
Fidelina Gutierrez, a cashier of the bakery who tried some of the Rosca de Reyes, said she felt like the bread was closing her throat and she was like in another dimension.
An elderly man fainted after he ate the bread, while a family of three made up of the father, teenage daughter and 4-year-old son felt dizzy as if they had taken drugs.
The bakery would only be allowed to reopen if it throws all its open food and ingredients that was used to bake the Rosca de Reyes and the employees undergo and complete professional restaurant-grade cleaning and food training, the LA Times reports.
Those who believed they have consumed the bread are encouraged to call the Santa Ana Police Crimes Against Persons Unit at 714-245-8390. The Santa Ana Police Department is expected to release the final laboratory results in one to two weeks.
