Samsung's Galaxy A7 has been officially unveiled, following a week of rumors and leaks showing the device's reported specs and photos.

Even though rumors said Samsung would go all out on the specs for the Galaxy A7, it has stuck to mid-tier features in some places, including the display. Samsung has fitted a HD AMOLED (1280 x 720) display onto the Galaxy A7, alongside an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and 1.3GHz or 1.5GHz and 1.0GHz for the dual-SIM version in South-East Asia.

Rounding off the specs are 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a microSD card, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front facing camera, 2600mAh battery, WiFi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth low energy.

Samsung is focusing on the design for the Galaxy A series, and the Galaxy A7 is no exception. The phone features a metallic design on the side and back of the device, offering a more appealing design than the Galaxy S5's plastic and faux leather.

The Galaxy A7 will reportedly be priced at $420 in the U.S., a decent price unlocked for the specifications and design. It is clear Samsung is learning from its mistakes in 2014 and capitalizing on the mid-range buzz on the market.

Samsung will start selling the Galaxy A7 in several countries sometime in quarter one 2015, although the exact launch date has not been disclosed. Samsung also did not give any software information, meaning it could run KitKat or Lollipop at launch.

The announcement completes the lineup of Galaxy A devices, the Galaxy A3 and A5 already launched in several markets. Samsung has not detailed the success of the two devices in the first few months.
